OLIVE + DENTON
Authentic Handcrafted Indigenous Designs
CREATIONS IN HONOUR OF MY ANCESTORS
Sandy is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and auntie. She grew up on Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and Six Nations of the Grand River in Ontario, Canada. She spent a large portion of her childhood playing with her cousins at her grandparents’ house, who were known as Gram and Pop. Their names: Arlie Olive and Charles Denton. Sandra’s creations are a tribute to them, and thus “Olive + Denton” was born.
SANDRA SAULT HARTWICK
Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe Nation
Sandy comes from a strong lineage of Onondaga, Mohawk and Mississauga people. Beading has a rich history amongst the Indigenous people of Turtle Island. The talent of Indigenous beaders are extraordinary. Sandy started out beading with brick stich, and is expanding her skills to flat stitch and quill work. Some designs are sourced from the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe culture. Sandra maintains that she does not own these designs; they belong to the people. She is simply honouring, celebrating, and sharing them with others.
